Here is the truth: boudoir pricing in Chicago is all over the place. You will find someone on Facebook Marketplace offering a “boudoir shoot” for the price of a nice dinner, and you will find luxury studios where the final investment looks more like a vacation. Both exist. They are not the same product, and the difference is exactly what this post is about.

The Two Parts of Boudoir Pricing
When you see “boudoir photography cost” online, you are usually only seeing half the picture. Almost every professional boudoir studio, mine included, splits the investment into two pieces.
1. The session. This is your day with us. At my studio that means your glam, your sets, your outfits from the client closet, and the shoot itself with me directing every single pose. Plan on about five hours with us, starting at 10am, with about an hour to an hour and a half of actual shoot time.
2. Your collection. This is what you take home. Digital images, an album, wall art, or a mix. About a week after your session you come back for your reveal, see your images for the first time, and pick what you want to keep.
Why split it up? Because nobody knows which images they will fall in love with until they see them. Some women want every single photo. Some want one gorgeous album to hand their partner on their wedding morning. Some want a giant canvas over the bed (iconic, no notes). Splitting the session and the collection means you only invest in what you actually love.
What You Are Actually Paying For
This is the part that explains the price gap between the Marketplace shoot and a real studio. When you book a full boudoir experience, you are not paying for someone to press a button for an hour. You are paying for all of this:
- Pro hair and makeup. Our glam squad does this for studio lighting and print every single week. It is part of every full experience at my studio, because it matters that much to how you look and feel.
- A real studio with styled sets. Moody bedroom, showgirl set, and more. Every set and every lighting choice is designed to flatter real bodies.
- The client closet. You do not need to buy a suitcase full of lingerie. Show up in sweats, we have you covered.
- Posing direction down to your fingertips. You do not need to know how to pose. That is literally my job. I have photographed hundreds of women and I will tell you exactly where to put your chin, your hands, your hips.
- Retouching that keeps you looking like you. Skin smoothing and cleanup, yes. Turning you into a stranger, no.
- The reveal. A dedicated appointment where you see your images and build your collection with us, not alone in your inbox.
- Products made to last. Heirloom albums and wall art that still look good decades from now.
If a price seems too good to be true, ask which of those things it leaves out. Usually it is most of them.
Why the Cheap Boudoir Shoot Costs More Later
I say this with love, because it is a story I hear way too often. A woman books the bargain shoot. The photographer does not do hair and makeup, the “studio” is a spare bedroom with one lamp, nobody tells her what to do with her hands, and she gets a link to a hundred unedited files.
She hides them in a folder. She feels worse than before. And then, a year later, she books again and pays for a real session anyway.
